Southland Vikings Grabs Lead In Eighth Inning To Defeat Bloomington Bobcats

Southland Vikings nabbed the lead late in the game in a 10-9 victory over Bloomington Bobcats on Sunday. The game was tied at nine with Southland Vikings batting in the bottom of the eighth when Frank Napleton singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as Southland Vikings collected 11 hits and Bloomington Bobcats 15 in the high-scoring affair In the second inning, Bloomington Bobcats got their offense started when an error scored two runs for Bloomington Bobcats.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Southland Vikings tied things up at nine when Dashon Moore singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. After Bloomington Bobcats scored two runs in the top of the fifth, Southland Vikings answered with two of their own. Bloomington Bobcats scored when Cole Jones grounded out, scoring one run and Lett lined out, driving in a run.

Southland Vikings then answered when Jarrett Lopez drew a walk, scoring one run and Moore drew a walk, scoring one run. Southland Vikings scored six runs in the fourth inning. Southland Vikings batters contributing to the big inning included Victor Perez, Napleton, Nick McAlister, Moore, and Andy Lopez, who all drove in runs. Justin Rios toed the rubber for Southland Vikings.

He allowed seven hits and three runs over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Joe Prestamer was on the mound for Bloomington Bobcats. He surrendered six runs on five hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking zero. Jake Marti and #8 entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three and a third innings and one inning respectively.

Southland Vikings collected 11 hits. Napleton, Perez, Will Smithey, and Moore each collected multiple hits for Southland Vikings. Napleton led Southland Vikings with three hits in five at bats. Bloomington Bobcats scattered 15 hits in the game. Tyler Thierry, Chris Monroe, Jones, and Lett each racked up multiple hits for Bloomington Bobcats.
