Vikings Drop Game To Northwest Indiana, 9-3, Sunday

Northwest Indiana Oilmen claimed a 9-3 victory on Sunday, despite a big push by Southland Vikings in the fifth inning. The big inning for Southland Vikings came thanks to walks by Andy Lopez and Dylan Smith and a single by Joe Curci. Northwest Indiana Oilmen secured the victory thanks to five runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to a triple by Jake Plastiak, a single by Zaid Walker, a sacrifice fly by Tyler Kenjic, and a double by Nate Montgomery. Northwest Indiana Oilmen got things moving in the first inning, when Plastiak grounded out, scoring one run. Northwest Indiana Oilmen tallied five runs in the third inning. Northwest Indiana Oilmen's big bats in the inning were led by a triple by Plastiak, a single by Walker, a sacrifice fly by Kenjic, and a double by Montgomery. Max Franklin was the winning pitcher for Northwest Indiana Oilmen. He surrendered zero runs on two hits over four innings, striking out seven and walking one. Justin Rios took the loss for Southland Vikings. He allowed 13 hits and nine runs over six innings, striking out one and walking one. Northwest Indiana Oilmen tallied 14 hits in the game. Cory Krolikowski, Montgomery, Walker, Patrick Hayes, and Plastiak each managed multiple hits for Northwest Indiana Oilmen. Montgomery and Krolikowski each collected three hits to lead Northwest Indiana Oilmen. Northwest Indiana Oilmen didn't commit a single error in the field. Montgomery had the most chances in the field with ten. Southland Vikings collected eight hits on the day. Dashon Moore and Victor Perez each collected multiple hits for Southland Vikings.
