Northwest Indiana Oilmen Clings To Victory As Southland Vikings Nearly Erases 5-Run Deficit

Northwest Indiana Oilmen got out to a five-run lead in the fifth inning and held on for a 5-4 victory over Southland Vikings on Saturday. Southland Vikings managed four runs in the failed comeback.

Will Smithey, Nick McAlister, and Justin Rios each picked up RBIs. Northwest Indiana Oilmen fired up the offense in the first inning, when Hunter Thorn homered on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Alex Voss led the Northwest Indiana Oilmen to victory on the pitcher's mound. He went seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out four and walking zero. George Sherman threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Sherman recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Northwest Indiana Oilmen. John Hendry took the loss for Southland Vikings.
