Vikings lose close one to Miracle

By: Griffin Winiecki

The Vikings traveled to Elkhart on Saturday on what would be their last game before the All Star Break. Motivated to win, the Vikings put Trey Pitcock on the mound. Pitcock, who has been the top guy for the Vikings is getting the start against a good Elkhart team that has walked it off against the Vikings in their last two games.

The Vikings put one on the board first when it was a bases loaded groudout RBI for Preston Lund making it a Vikings 1-0 lead. The game was then tied at the bottom of the 1st when the Miracle tacked a run on from a Pinuelus single. Then back in the bottom of the 2nd the Miracle put 2 runs to extend their lead to 3-1. The Vikings took the lead thanks to singles from Preston Lund and Miles Cvelbar and the score was a 4-3 Vikings ball game. The Miracle would add another run and keep the game tied at 4 throughout the whole game until the bottom of the 7th when the Miracle scored 3 and would eventually win the game 7-4.

The Vikings' next game will be in Elkhart next Friday, but they will have 6 all stars headed to Oil City to play in the Northern League All Star game.
