Vikings fall to Miracle 3-2

By: Griffin Winiecki

On a hot warm summer Friday, the Vikings after a week of not playing, were fresh off the all star break and were ready to get one for themselves in Elkhart. It was Andrew Early for the Vikings who was selected to start the game against the Miracle. His last start was a loss against the Miracle back a few weeks ago but was ready to deal today.

The Vikings started off on the board when they drew in 2 runs thanks to a pair of walks from the Miracle pitcher Sam Russo. The Miracle later that inning, would put 1 on the board making it a Vikings 2-1 ballgame. It was a duel between Russo and Early throughout the game as both pitchers didn't give up another run until the bottom of the 5th. The Miracle tacked on 2 runs from a double and a single making the game 3-2 in favor of the Miracle.

The score would stay the same and the Vikings would lose to the Miracle 3-2. Similar to the very first game of the year where both squads faced off in the season opener which was also a Miracle 3-2 win. The Vikings today struggled at the plate striking out 13 times today but with a week off of baseball there was bound to be a bit of rust in the tank.

The Vikings hope to knock off all the rust when they visit the first place Oilmen in Whiting Saturday at 7:00 PM.
