Nolan Vlcek Named Pitcher of the Year; All-Northern League Team
Hammond, Ind. – August 4, 2023 – Southland Vikings ace Nolan Vlcek (Western Michigan) has been named the 2023 Northern League Pitcher of the Year and has also been selected to the All-Northern League team.
Vlcek has put together a phenomenal season for the Vikings finishing among the league leaders in multiple categories.
He finished first in the league in ERA (1.94) and K/9 (10.37), fourth in strikeouts (48) and tied for fifth in WHIP (1.34) while finishing with a league best 6-0 record in seven starts (41.2 IP).
Vlcek was also named to the Northern League All-Star game this year for the third time and was the starting pitcher in the game for the second time in his career.
Vlcek will look to continue his success as he leads the Vikings into their playoff series against the Oilmen starting on Saturday.
