It was a tight game until Dupage County Hounds scored five late runs for the 10-4 victory over the Southland Vikings on Sunday at Lemont High School Sport Complex.
Trent Carrier reached base three times in the game for Dupage County Hounds . He singled in the second and eighth innings.
Cody Haver racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Southland Vikings . He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the eighth inning.
Noah Masa got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. He allowed four runs over seven innings. Masa struck out six, walked two and gave up seven hits.
Jose Romero ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just four innings, walked four, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
Dupage County Hounds stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the second, scoring two runs on an RBI single by Matt Wollnik.
Dupage County Hounds increased its lead with three runs in the third. A clutch error scored Joe Duncan and Zac Taylor to open the scoring in the frame.
Three the Southland Vikings runs crossed the plate in the bottom half of the sixth, making the score 5-3. A two-run double by Haver and a sacrifice fly by Sanford Hunt sparked the Southland Vikings 's rally. Finally, Masa got Chris Pikoulas to to end the threat.
Dupage County Hounds built upon its lead with four runs in the eighth. The inning got off to a hot start when Hunter Morris singled, plating Carrier. That was followed up by Wollnik's single, scoring Shane Carrier and Morris.
