Deion Thompson had two extra base hits as Lexington Snipes took home a 7-2 victory over the Southland Vikings at Hap Bruno Field on Friday.
He homered in the third inning, doubled in the seventh inning, and singled in the ninth inning.
Jacob Lane paced the Southland Vikings at the plate. Lane went 3-5 and drove in one. He singled in the third, fifth, and seventh innings.
Lexington Snipes' lineup had no answer for John Swisher. Swisher held Lexington Snipes hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.
Ross Learnard recorded the win for Lexington Snipes. He allowed two runs over four innings. He struck out five, walked two and surrendered five hits.
Lexington Snipes was sparked by Ryan Frye and Thompson, who teamed up for five hits and two RBIs.
Jalen Purchase took the loss for the Southland Vikings . He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
The game was never in doubt after the first, as Lexington Snipes scored one run on a sacrifice fly by Jared McCunn.
Lexington Snipes increased its lead with two runs in the third. A sacrifice fly scored Frye for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Thompson's solo blast.
The Southland Vikings scored two runs in the bottom of the third to cut their deficit to one. A groundout by Louis Avila and an RBI single by Lane set off the Southland Vikings rally. Lexington Snipes stopped the rally after Learnard got Chris Stevens to ground out.
Lexington Snipes piled on three more runs in the top of the ninth. The inning got off to a hot start when Tanner Russell singled, scoring Chris Maranto.
