Vikings Season Comes to End in MCL Semifinals


Northwest Indiana Oilmen snatched the lead late in the game in a 7-5 victory over Southland Vikings on Wednesday. Northwest Indiana Oilmen was down 4-3 in the bottom of the eighth inning when Tyler Kenjic homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs.

Northwest Indiana Oilmen earned the victory despite allowing Southland Vikings to score three runs in the sixth inning. The offensive firepower by Southland Vikings was led by Will Smithey and Justin Rios, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Southland Vikings got things moving in the first inning.

Logan Anderson was hit by a pitch, driving in a run. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Northwest Indiana Oilmen tied things up at one when Nick Figus singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Chad Patrick took the win for Northwest Indiana Oilmen. He lasted three and a third innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out five and walking zero.

Robert Keating took the loss for Southland Vikings. He surrendered four runs on five hits over one-third of an inning, walking zero. Brendan Kelly started the game for Northwest Indiana Oilmen.

He surrendered four runs on ten hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one John Hendry started the game for Southland Vikings. He surrendered three runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out five Northwest Indiana Oilmen hit one home run on the day.

Tyler Kenjic had a four bagger in the eighth inning. Northwest Indiana Oilmen had 11 hits in the game. Nick Figus and Tyler Kenjic all had multiple hits for Northwest Indiana Oilmen.

Nick Figus led Northwest Indiana Oilmen with four hits in five at bats. Southland Vikings saw the ball well today, racking up 12 hits in the game. Justin Rios, Andy Lopez, and Nick McAlister each had multiple hits for Southland Vikings.

Justin Rios went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Southland Vikings in hits.
