The Southland Vikings have announced their schedule for the 2022 summer season. This year the Vikings compete in a 54-game regular season leading into the Northern League playoffs, beginning on Monday, Aug. 8.
The teams with the top four records will compete in the 2022 postseason. The format will now feature a single-elimination game semifinal round, before entering the traditional best-of-three format in the league championship series.
The Vikings will open up their campaign on Monday, May 23 at 5 p.m., where they will be the first opponent in Lake County Corn Dogs history. The following day, the Vikings will be on the road and will take on the defending champion Joliet Generals in a doubleheader.
Throughout the summer, the Vikings will host 25 additional games at Dowling Park with games away from the team’s home park scattered in between.
The Vikings will close out the regular season by playing six of their final 10 games on the road, including three trips to Whiting, Ind., to take on the Northwest Indiana Oilmen.
Entering their 13th season of play as one of the founding members of the now-Northern League, the Southland Vikings will look to continue their on-field success as they look to compete for the franchise’s fourth league championship.
