Hammond, Ind. – May 22, 2023 – The return of Southland Vikings baseball is just eight days away!
The oldest team in the Northern League will compete in a 55-game regular season this year, starting with a home matchup against the Indiana Panthers on May 30 from Dowling Park.
This will be the fourth straight season that the Vikings call Dowling Park home.
The Vikings look to build on their rich history as they will be led by new manager Sullivan Stickann, who is excited to lead a team filled with both Northern League veterans and new players.
The Northern League looks a bit different in 2023 compared to last season with a couple of teams changing locations and a new team joining the league. The Panthers and Generals both moved from Illinois to Indiana this season, rebranding to the Indiana Panthers and Griffith Generals. The new addition to the league this year is the Elkhart County Miracle. The Vikings will play the Miracle for the first time on June 2 from NorthWood High School in Nappanee, Ind.
The 2023 Northern League consists of the Southland Vikings, reigning champion Lake County Corn Dogs, Northwest Indiana Oilmen, Indiana Panthers, Griffith Generals and the Elkhart County Miracle. The Vikings will play 11 games against each team during the regular season.
