Light Cuts the Game Short for the Vikes and Miracle

By: Griffin Winiecki

   - May 27th, 2024 - It's opening day! One of the most exciting days for the two organizations like the Vikings and the Miracle. The Vikings who last appeared in an Northern League game losing their sereis against the Oilmen in the playoffs were set and ready for the year. Entering with a new head coach Jake Hunt, the Vikings looked to starting pitcher Mason Leckrone to do some of the dirty work.

In a great pitchers duel between the two teams, it wasn't until the top of the 6th where the Miracle had a two rbi double off of an error made by the Vikings. Through 6 innings, Mason Leckrone the starting pitcher went 6 innings throwing over 100 pitches and totalin 4 strikeouts. On the other side, Cristopher Gonzalez for the Miracle pitched a great game throwing 5 innings and having 12 strikeouts. Gonzalez pitched himself a good game and was given the run support within the later stages of the game.

Entering the 8th, the Vikings were down 3-0 where the Vikings load the bases on new pitcher for the Miracle, Juilo Garcia, Garcia ends up walking a run in and then the next at bat Garcia gives up a RBI single to third basemen Alijah Rainey making the score 3-2 by the end of the 8th.

Unfortunately for the fans and players, the game had to be cut an inning short due to there not being enough sunlight for the game, a problem hopefully the Vikings don't have to face many times. In what was a shortened but very good game, the Vikings look to improve next game where they take on the Oilmen at home at 5:00 PM.
