Vikings tear it up at the plate. Win 14-1

By: Griffin Winiecki

The Vikings were firing on all cylinders today against the Miracle. In what was their second meeting, (first one ended 3-2 Miracle and was called due to lighting) the Vikings' plate discipline today was at its best.

Pitchers David Anderson and Trey Pitcock were to thank for the great pitching and the Vikings also made some key plays in the field to keep the game whereit was.

The scoring started in the second when the Vikings got themselves a bases loaded walk and then 2 innings later scored 6 runs off of 3 hits and multiple walks made it a 7-0 ballgame at the end of the 4th. In the 5th inning the Vikings were looking great putting the bat on the ball and driving in runs making it 11-0 at the end of the 5th while also having a a nice 8th inning scoring 3.

The Vikings plate discipline today was great drawing in 9 walks and limiting strikeouts was a key for the Vikings since last week, where they had struggled at the plate and not generating enough offense.

When asked what was different from last week Coach Hunt had to say, "the guys have just been seeing the ball way better and are picking up the speed of this game". With the Vikings coming off that game hot they will be back in Highland where they will try and get another win against the Panthers at 7:00 PM
