The Vikings visited the Generals in Griffith on a 5 game skid. Needing a win bad, Coach Hunt turned to one of the top Vikings, Trey Pitcock. Pitcock's last appearance against the Generals he took a win in 7 innings with 6 K's.
The Vikings were the first team on the board in the top of the 1st when the Vikings got a run in thanks to a walk from the Generals pitcher Ian Clark. After the Vikings put a run on, it was a Hockman single to tie the ballgame up at 1. Action didn't pick up until the 3rd inning when it was Isaiah Steinhilber who drew a walk making it a 2-1 ballgame. The next inning in the top of the 4th the Vikings hit around and scored 3 runs to make it a 5-1 game.
The Generals and Vikings would respectively tack on another run and it was a final 6-2 ballgame when Mason Leckrone came in and closed out the game.
From Pitcock's last appearance to today, it was no different. Pitcock went 7 innings and struck out 4 while giving up 2 earned throughout the whole game. The Vikings collected 9 hits and 7 walks in the game tonight. All sides of the ball were on point for the Vikings today. "Guys were being patient up there and expected certain pitches while up there" said Coach Hunt as the Vikings batters sure did locate good pitches and were able to stray away from striking out a lot.
The Vikings look to add on another win when they visit the Miracle in Elkhart at 1:00 PM tomorrow.
