Vikes lose lead in last inning

By: Griffin Winiecki

The Vikings headed back to Elkhart on what would mark a long week and the end of it especially. After a win the Vikings were focused on adding another one and getting themselves closer to that third place spot in the Northern League standings.

The Vikings started David Anderson on the mound for them today and the Miracle put out a familiar face that the Vikings have went up against, Pablo Ruiz who also serves as the Miracle assistant coach.

The action started in the top of the 2nd inning when the Miracle got two runs on the board thanks to an error on the side of the Vikings making the ballgame 2-0 Miracle. It wasn't until the 4th inning when players like Owen Bendis, Phillip Amones, and Zach Norwine each singled and scored a run each making it a 4-2 Vikings lead.

The game was later tied at 4 when it was the Miracle who scored 2 in the bottom of the 6th to make it an even closer game. The Vikings unwilling to leave on a tie, notched a run in the top of the 8th thanks to a Jacob Gunn single which helped the Vikings lead 5-4. Then, in the bottom of the 9th, after an error made by the Vikings, the Miracle tied it up at 5 and then walked it off on a sac fly by Juan Flores to win them the game.

In what should have been a win for the Vikings it was another tough loss super late into the game. Errors out in the field is what hurt the Vikings the most as they had 5 total errors on the field. The next time the Vikings suit up will be Tuesday at Dowling Park against the Generals at 2:00 PM.
