A walk-off double from Billy Miller brought home the winning run for the Northwest Indiana Oilmen (3-1) in a 5-4 victory over the Southland Vikings (1-2) at Oil City Stadium on Tuesday.
Miller put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Oilmen. He doubled in the sixth and ninth innings.
The Vikings led most of the way as they scored three runs in the first inning. Damon Saunders was walked with the bases loaded and Dan Eliopulos' double plated two more runs. The star for the team was starting pitcher Brandon Duplessis who went eight innings, giving up only one earned run on 7 hits along with 4 strikeouts.
Ryan March got on base two times in the game for the Southland Vikings. He scored one run and had one RBI thanks to his triple in the ninth inning.
Josh Stowe improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Oilmen. He allowed one run over one inning. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered two hits.
Tyler Willis was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
