By: Southland Vikings pitcher Aaron Hauge has recently been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II All-American team. Hauge, a left-handed pitcher from Heartland Community College, led the Hawks to a 54-11 record with a Region 24 title and a third-place finish in the NJCAA World Series.
A product of Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Flossmoor, Illinois, Hauge finished the season with a 10-2 record and a 2.42 earned run average. He struck out 91 batters and walked just 31 in his staff-high 70.2 innings of work. The lefty struck out 197 hitters in his two seasons at Heartland, but perhaps more impressive is the fact that he walked just 50 batters in that span. He finishes his career at Heartland with a 20-3 record.
Hauge will now join the Southland Vikings for his second season. He was the ace of the staff last season and is expected to start his first game on Friday, June 15 the against the Northwest Indiana Oilmen. Hauge will take his talents to Southern Illinois University next season.
