Ben Clark hopes every outing could go as well as Thursday, as Clark threw a shutout to carry the Illinois Lincolns (6-5) to a 3-0 victory over the Southland Vikings (4-5) at Homewood-Flossmoor High School.
Clark racked up 10 strikeouts in the Lincolns' win. He tossed nine innings of shutout ball and allowed only six hits.
Chris Hipchen had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the second inning and homered in the fourth inning.
Charlie Naso was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Illinois Lincolns batters and allowing zero runs. Jason Ziegler was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out seven, and only allowed two runs.
The Vikings did muster six hits but left nine on base. They will be back in action Friday night against the Northwest Indiana Oilmen.
